- FFA Wiring Competition
Each year Satilla EMC, along with EMCs across Georgia, sponsors the FFA Agricultural Electrification Career Development Event (CDE). This wiring competition requires students to complete a timed practical wiring exercise and a problem-solving exam followed by an oral presentation describing the necessary steps to complete an electrical wiring task.
Offered through local FFA chapters, the regional wiring competition reinforces electrical wiring skills that are taught in agriculture education classes and helps the students learn about future career opportunities in the electrical industry.
Any active FFA member enrolled in a high school agriculture education class is eligible to participate in the wiring competition. The top two individuals in each region’s wiring contest advance to the state competition.
The highest placing student from the Satilla area will receive the R. L. Lanier Scholarship. The R. L. Lanier scholarship was created in 1998 to honor Mr. R. Lehman Lanier for his 56 years of outstanding service to Satilla as its President and CEO. The $500 scholarship can be used for educational expenses at a college or technical school.
