Hurricane Helene Update October, 3rd

Posted on

We are currently at 27% of members restored. As of this morning, we have 637 individual outages to address. Each of these represents a unique issue that needs resolving –some of which will take a day and others potentially weeks.

Our crews follow a structured process, starting at the substation, then moving to distribution feeders and tap lines, before finally addressing individual service connections, the last step in the restoration process. We can’t give you a specific time because many of the outages we have include damage to transmission lines. Satilla does not work on these lines because it requires different certifications, equipment, and materials. Georgia Transmission is working hard to repair these lines while our team works on substation and distribution lines.

We understate how difficult it is to be without electricity. Many Satilla employees are still without power in their homes as well. Hurricane Helene has been devastating to our area, but we can all get through this together. Please know that we are exhausting every resource, and securing more daily, to get the lights back on for every single one of our members.
