Satilla REMC Foundation’s Generous Donations to Benefit Coastal Pines and Wiregrass Technical Students and Programs
Since 1937 Satilla REMC has been dedicated to improving the quality of life in South Georgia. Satilla does this by not only providing affordable electric service to our members but by also being an active supporter and champion of the education institutions in our local communities.
The Satilla Rural Electric Membership Corporation Foundation recently made $25,000 in donations to the technical colleges located in Satilla’s service territory. These gifts are intended to benefit the students, residents, and communities of Southeast Georgia. The funds will be used to support student and program success at Wiregrass Technical College (WGTC) and Coastal Pines Technical College (CPTC) through student scholarships, program equipment, capital projects and other worthy investments that promote a highly skilled workforce.
In a presentation at the Douglas, GA campus of WGTC, Romeo Reyes, CEO of Satilla EMC and Jim Tucker, Chairman of the Satilla REMC Foundation, presented DeAnnia Clements, President of WGTC with a $5,000 check to benefit the students they serve.
Later that same week, Romeo Reyes and Jim Tucker presented Lonnie Roberts, President of CPTC, with a donation of $10,000. The donation will be used toward scholarships for the Electrical Line Worker Program. The funds will be used to directly support the students and the costs associated with this program including tuition, books, and supplies. At this same time, Satilla REMC made an additional $10,000 donation to the Coastal Pines general scholarship fund. This donation will be used to help students at CPTC who needs additional financial assistance with tuition, fees, and books.
“Thank you to our community partners at Satilla REMC for their generous donation of $10,000 to the Electrical Lineman Program, as well as $10,000 to the general scholarship fund through the CPTC Foundation! Because of partners like you, our students are able to reach their goals and finish school.” states Lonnie Roberts, President of CPTC.
The Satilla REMC Foundation was established in 1999 and to date has awarded over $2,000,000 in scholarships and grants intended to enhance the educational opportunities available in our service area. Funding for these awards is made possible through voluntary contributions of Satilla REMC Members who round up their monthly electrical services bills.
New Look, Same Great Service!
Satilla is excited to announce the launch of our re-designed website at satillaemc.com. The site was designed such that it would have a fresh look, would be more user-friendly, and would take all of the varied needs of our members into consideration.
On the Home page, you will find quick-links that will allow you to pay your bill, contact us, and even connect with us via Facebook or Twitter. You can also read about the latest Satilla news and events, as well as access additional links to important information including our new Outage and Storm Center.
The new website retains all of the functions of our previous site and improves on many of them. Information on Energy Audits, Home Plus Energy loans, and Residential Solar are just a few of the services that are available. We have also included new and exciting information related to Satilla’s ongoing Broadband internet project on this new site.
