Satilla REMC staff and employees are preparing for Tropical Storm Idalia as it makes its way toward Florida. Although the storm path could change, current models have the storm intensifying to a Hurricane before making landfall in Florida and affecting Southeast Georgia on Wednesday. As a result, co-op representatives expect Idalia’s impact to be felt in many of the counties that Satilla serves.
“If the storm remains on its current path, it will likely cause power outages in portions of our service territory,” says Jim Tucker, spokesperson for Satilla REMC. “We want to assure all Satilla members that we are well prepared and ready to restore electric service as soon as it is safe to do so.”
Satilla REMC will continue to watch this storm closely and would like to remind its members to keep abreast of the storm’s development and to take all necessary precautions to protect themselves during this time.
Customers should contact Satilla REMC at 1-888-738-6926 to report power outages or to provide information regarding potential safety issues that involve Satilla’s distribution system.
As a reminder, during periods of power restoration, SAFETY is always the #1 priority. DO NOT approach, touch, or attempt to move fallen power lines or items that have fallen on them.
