Banana Nut Bread

Ingredients:

1/2 cup butter flavored Crisco

2 cups self-rising flour

1 1/2 cups sugar

1/2 cup buttermilk

2 eggs

3/4 cup walnuts or pecans - chopped

1 cup ripe bananas - mashed

1 tsp. vanilla

Directions:

Cream shortening and sugar in mixing bowl. Beat in eggs. Blend in bananas and vanilla. Add flour alternately with buttermilk. Fold in nuts. Pour into two greased loaf pans. Bake at 350 degrees for 45-55 minutes or until toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean. Topping: 1/3 c. ripe bananas, mashed 1 tsp. lemon juice 1 1/4 c. powdered sugar 1/2 c. nuts Combine bananas, sugar, and lemon juice. Spread over loaves and top with nuts.
